CrossFit. You've seen it on ESPN; you've seen it endorsed by Reebok, and now you've seen it on "The Biggest loser"! Here’s what CrossFit is all about and how it can make a difference for your team.
CrossFit is a functional training program that will help to develop your team while players learn some valuable, life long fitness and nutrition tips. At CrossFit Select we improve all aspects of an athlete’s game in a high intensity atmosphere where athletes improve and have fun at the same time! Your program will be tailored to meet your team’s needs. All workouts will be led by certified CrossFit trainers who have years of experience as teachers and as athletes. At CrossFit Select we focus on competition, confidence and comraderie. Our high intensity, group atmosphere and supportive community are one of a kind!

Services Available…
- At CrossFit Select we can tailor a program to meet your team’s needs and schedule. We can provide everything from pre-season or in-season weekly training clinics to monthly team building clinics.
- Our training philosophy focuses on physical improvements and team building and is specifically designed to improve an athlete’s strength, coordination, speed, balance, agility and team dynamics.
- By using benchmark workouts throughout the program, we will measure an athlete’s performance and improvements.
- Goal setting workshop with Bruce Young, motivational speaker goal setting coach
- 1 hour running clinic with Boston Marathoner and Ironman competitor, John Knox (tips on explosive sprint techniques and how to build short distance running into your dryland training)
- Each player will have access to WODs (workout of the day) and a stretching program to be completed between gym sessions.
Our clinics include:
1) Chalk Talk Workshops (e.g., goal setting, running clinic, information on how nutrition can be used to enhance performance)
2) Warm up
3) Skill Instruction - that could be anything including push ups, box jumps, pull ups, flipping tractor tires, medicine ball throws for core development, rowing, running, Olympic weightlifting, sledbarrow http://www.sledbarrow.com/ , push/pulls, wall balls and yes everyone's favourite, burpees! We take these functional movements and mix them up in as many variations as possible to create our high intensity workouts.
4) Workouts such as a partner workout or team ‘chipper’ that are specifically designed to practice the movements/skills learned, build confidence, have fun and build comraderie.
5) Cool Down
“Running is an integral part of any training program for a variety of team sports. Most team sports are comprised of short bursts of maximal efforts. Train to perform at a higher intensity for longer durations with HIIT combinations of strength training and running.”

CONFIDENCE - Dryland training at CrossFit Select helps girls get stronger and this translates to more confidence when they are on the ice. Girls’ hockey is becoming more and more physical and the season is getting longer…between on ice practices, tournaments and regular season games, rep hockey teams are on the ice about 125 times.
